Saw it yesterday. The film is obviously better than most summer blockbusters.

As for the performance by Depp, I found it okay even though the character of John Dillinger is not as memorable as Jack Sparrow. The problem that I had is that Mann spends a lot of time documenting Dillinger’s coldness, meticulousness and disdain for the law. As a result of that, the film only superficially explores Dillinger’s charisma and popularity in the American conscience.

I was rather dissapointed by the movie. I found it too long to be agreable, with a combination of the moving camera (which is not appropriately used here) and loud gunshots giving you a headache all the way through. The acting is done without much emotion, expressionless faces…
Overall, i was expecting a lot better.
