Black Sheep Reviews presents the 2013 Mouton d’Or Awards
The 2013 Mouton d’Or Award Nominations
As is the tradition here at Black Sheep Reviews, we would like to take this opportunity to present you with the 2013 Mouton d’Or Awards nominations. This marks the ninth year for the awards and no matter how many times we do this, it is always surprisingly difficult to narrow the field of fin film to just a handful of finalists. Nonetheless, the task is now complete and we are very excited to share those results with you today.
This year, with so many remarkable films to choose from, the Mouton d’Or love has been spread across many titles. Leading the pack though with eight nominations apiece are Steve McQueen’s 12 YEARS A SLAVE and David O. Russell’s AMERICAN HUSTLE. Each of these films is nominated in the Best Picture category and has also been feted for their screenplays and three acting awards, which is a great feat. Following swiftly behind with seven nominations each are Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY and the Coen brothers’ INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. The latter marks the third directing nomination for the Coens, while Cuaron’s revelation picks up nods for BestPicture, Director and, naturally, Best Big Movie. Rounding out the leaderboard, as well as the Best Picture nominees, with six nominations each are Spike Jonze’s HER and Martin Scorsese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.
As for this year’s Readers Choice Award, I would like to thank you once again for participating so fervently in helping this category take shape. As always, it is a great pleasure for us to read all of your entries and to see how those come together to highlight ten fantastic films. Voting for the Black Sheep Readers Choice Award will start today and will continue for the next three weeks. Vote online by making your choice from the ten finalists in the poll found in the sidebar menu of the site.
The Mouton d’Or Award winners will be announced on Sunday, February 23. In the meantime, there are the 2013 Mouton d’Or Award nominees … (Click any title to read the original Black Sheep review.)
